Sewage Management
Most Homes and businesses in the UK are able to discharge wastewater via gravity straight to the main drains (sewers). Many properties however are not so fortunate. Those that are isolated, rural, downhill from the Main drains or perhaps temporary will need to employ different methods to get rid of their effluent.
This can usually be achieved by using a sewage treatment plant (*Klargester) or a sewage pumping station.
Sewage Treat plants
A sewage treatment plant by domestic a or commercial definition is an underground system that treats sewage to a level that it is then safe to release into a soak away, drainage ditch and in some cases straight to surface water.
*Sewage treatment plants are often referred to as Klargestes which in actual fact is the brand name of a popular Sewage treatment system.
AWS install various makes and models of Treatment plants to suit the individual project. The Treatment plants, depending on size installed, can serve between 1 and 300 people. We can guide you through the planning and permission process, carry out the installation and set up a maintenance programme for your system.

Things are changing in 2020
“If you have a septic tank that discharges directly to a surface water you will need to replace or upgrade your treatment system by 1 January 2020. Where properties with septic tanks that discharge directly to surface water are sold before 1 January 2020, responsibility for the replacement or upgrade of the existing treatment system should be addressed between the buyer and seller as a condition of sale.”
